Panabo City, Davao del Norte — The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI Extension Office conducted an insightful legal forum for barangay kagawads and other stakeholders in the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – National Mariculture Center (BFAR-NMC), Panabo City on July 10, 2024.

The forum focused on the basic concepts of the “Cooperative Code of 2008” (Republic Act No. 9520) and “The CDA Charter of 2019” (Republic Act No. 11535).The resource person for the event was Atty. Earl D.F. Larroder (Legal Officer) and Mr. Paul Ryan R. Simbajon (CDS II) from the Legal Unit of Cooperative Development Authority Region XI Extension Office.

Atty. Earl D.F. Larroder answered questions related to the Cooperative Code of 2008 and explained how cooperative laws help build strong cooperatives and aid in barangay community governance. The forum included an interactive session where participants could ask questions and discuss real-life legal issues. This engagement helped the local leaders understand the importance of these laws in promoting transparency and community growth.

The event was only one of the initiatives of the Cooperative Development Authority Region XI Extension Office through its Legal Unit in supporting and educating local leaders across Davao Region in partnership with the Committee on Agriculture and Cooperative of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Panabo City.

The event was graced by the presence of Panabo City Vice Mayor Hon. Gregorio U. Dujali III, Congressman Hon. Alan R. Dujali, Representative, 2nd District Davao Del Norte, and Hon. Emmanuel G. Pamisaran, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Cooperative of the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte.
