February 19, 2024 – The Davao City Credit Surety Fund Cooperative (DCCSFC) spearheaded the conduct of CSF Region XI Cooperatives Consultative Meeting assisted by CDA RXI-CSF Unit, at the CDA Regional Office, Conference Hall, SPMC Compound, Buhangin, Davao City. It was attended by the representatives of the four registered CSF Cooperatives in Region XI namely: Davao del Norte Credit Surety Fund Cooperative (DNCSFC), Davao de Oro Credit Surety Fund Cooperative (DDOCSFC), Digos City Credit Surety Fund Cooperative, and Davao Oriental Credit Surety Fund Cooperative (DOPCSFC). Other attendees included CDA Regional Director Glenn S. Garcia, Acting Supervising CDS Rhandy B. Corro, and the Board of Directors of DCCSFC.
The consultative meeting’s agenda included proposals for the 2nd National Congress to be hosted in Davao City by DCCSFC tentatively in August 2024 and the agreement for the 1st Regional CSF Congress to be hosted by DDOCSFC on May 17, 2024. Moreover, it was decided that quarterly meetings among registered CSF Cooperatives will commence on June 7, 2024, with DNCSFC facilitating the first one, alongside reminders from the CDA CSF Unit regarding the Submission of Best Practices/Success Stories for the 2024 CDA CSF Magazine, participation in the crafting of a five-year CSF Roadmap workshop scheduled on February 27-29, 2024, and the submission of Annual Mandatory Reports and monthly monitoring tool reports.
Additional matters of importance were deliberated such as the possibility of amending the maximum loanable amount, legal concerns regarding standard legal forms for default borrowers, interest rates applied through CSF of GFIs, potential partnerships with SBC, and appeals to BSP for competitive rates for CSF programs. Furthermore, there was a proposal from Region XI CSF Cooperatives to assist children and victims affected by natural disasters, such as the recent heavy rainfall leading to floods and landslides in Masara, Davao de Oro.
The meeting concluded positively, with active participation of all attendees representing CSF Cooperatives in the region. It highlighted the collective dedication to fostering cooperation, addressing challenges, and driving positive change within the cooperative sector.
