March 2024 marks another significant celebration of Women’s Month, a global movement recognizing the achievements and contributions of women throughout history and their ongoing fight for equality.
Leading by example, Regional Director Monatao Honeya R. Alawi spearhead the participation of the CDA Region XIII Extension Office in the Women’s Month Celebration Motorcade and Kick-Off Program. This participation underscores CDA’s commitment as a national government agency to upholding equal opportunities and promoting women’s empowerment.
The motorcade set off from Guingona Park, culminating at the Philippines Science High School where the Kick-Off Program officially commenced the month-long festivities.
The Regional Development Council’s Regional Gender and Development Committee (RDC-RGADC) organized the Women’s Month Celebration, drawing a large and diverse crowd. Participants represented various National Governm
ent Agencies (NGAs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Government Units (LGUs), and attached Agencies and Bureaus across Butuan City, demonstrating a collective commitment to advancing women’s issues.
The program was graced by Undersecretary Lisa Grace S. Bernales, Executive Director V of Commission on Population and Development as Keynote Speaker. In her message, Usec. Bernales emphasized the importance of collective advocacy among government partners for gender equality and women’s empowerment. She highlighted the rise of adolescent pregnancy as a critical issue in the country and underscored the significance of looking out for young girls and women who are often left behind.
During the ceremony, all agency heads in attendance presented certificates and tokens, concluding with a group photo with Undersecretary Bernales.
