The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Caraga, through its Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Section, successfully held the Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act (FCPA) Online Orientation on May 16, 2025.
On May 16, 81 credit cooperatives and 145 participants joined to grasp Republic Act No. 11765 and its Implementing Rules (MC No. 2023-014). Ms. Gezzel B. Quiao, CDS II of the CSF Section, served as the insightful speaker.
This event highlights CDA’s efforts to strengthen consumer protection and promote fair financial practices in cooperatives. The session clarified how the provisions of the Financial Consumer Protection Act (FCPA) apply to various cooperative operations.
Participants also learned the importance of conducting a GAP Analysis, as outlined in Memorandum Circular No. 2024-22. This tool helps cooperatives evaluate their current practices, ensure alignment with FCPA requirements, and create effective compliance action plans.CDA Caraga thanks all participants. “Your engagement is vital to building a transparent and trustworthy cooperative financial sector”. (Charles M. Palen, CSF Section Chief)
