On September 25, 2024, CDA Caraga’s Credit Surety Fund Service, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Surigao del Sur Provincial Government, held a Contributors Orientation Seminar (COS) and Financial Literacy session for potential members of the proposed Surigao del Sur Credit Surety Fund Cooperative. The event was attended by representatives from 12 primary cooperatives, Hon. Pedrito R. Sulapas, SP Chair on Cooperatives from Bislig City, and staff from the Bislig City Cooperative Development Office led by Mr. Almar B. Autida.

Supervising CDS, Ms. Anecita O. Unson, warmly welcomed the participants and shared insights into the Credit Surety Fund’s plans and programs, setting a positive tone. SP Sulapas also expressed his strong support for the creation of the CSF Cooperative. Engaging presentations by Mr. Recto Transfiguracion and Ms. Mary Grace Jaquilmac from the CSF Service covered important topics like RA 10744, known as the “Credit Surety Fund Cooperative of 2015,” and the requirements for CSF Cooperative registration.

Additionally, Ms. Rose Quijada from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas led a financial literacy session on budgeting, savings, debt management, and smart investments, all tied to the goals of the CSF program.

The sessions were well-received, leading to the election of interim officers for the proposed CSF Cooperative. This commitment marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between cooperatives, the LGU, and partner agencies, as they work together to establish the 4th CSF Cooperative in Caraga, Surigao del Sur.
