RCDC Quarterly Meeting and Check Turnover Held Back-to-Back

The Regional Cooperative Development Council (RCDC) held a significant meeting on January 15, 2025, in Tandag City. The event, led by RCDC Chairman Alvin B. Dela Cruz, brought together cooperative leaders, stakeholders, and representatives from across the region to strengthen the sector’s development.

Before the meeting officially commenced, a turnover ceremony took place. Regional Director Monatao Honeya R. Alawi, representing the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), handed over two checks worth PHP 750,000 each—amounting to a total of PHP 1.5 million. Also gracing the turnover were the ever-supportive City Mayor of Tandag Hon. Roxanne C. Pimentel with her constituents. These financial incentives were provided under the CDA’s Merger and Consolidation Program. The recipients were:

Tandag First Consolidated Consumers Cooperative (TAFICCCO), represented by Cuadrito M. Plamos, Barangay San Jose, Tandag City. Northeastern Tandag City Consolidated Consumers Cooperative (NETCCCO), represented by Chairperson Jerson D. Alimpago, Barangay Pangi, Tandag City.

These funds are expected to help the cooperatives enhance their operations and continue serving their communities effectively.

Regional Director Monatao Honeya R. Alawi, PhD, delivered an inspiring message, encouraging cooperative members to work together for inclusive growth and community empowerment.

The meeting, hosted by Tandag City and facilitated by City Cooperative Development Officer Ms. Lorna L. Novo, also discussed plans and strategies to address challenges facing the cooperative sector. Attendees, including Provincial Cooperative Development Council representatives and other stakeholders, shared valuable insights to promote collaboration and growth.

Chairman Dela Cruz highlighted the RCDC’s role in uniting cooperatives and ensuring their success in a changing economic environment. The meeting reinforced the vital contributions of cooperatives in driving progress and building resilient communities.

The event was a resounding success, reflecting the shared commitment of the RCDC, local government units, and cooperative organizations to strengthen partnerships and support cooperative development. It set a positive tone for the cooperative movement in 2025 and beyond.
