Throughout October 2023, the town of San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur, came alive with a series of engaging events in celebration of Cooperative Month. Spearheaded by the dedicated efforts of Ms. Honorina Blanco, the Municipal Cooperative Development Officer, in collaboration with MCDC and various cooperatives, the month was filled with activities that fostered community spirit and cooperation.
Kicking off on October 2, 2023, the Cooperative Month commenced with an electrifying opening ceremony during the LGU San Francisco Flag Raising. Employees of the LGU of San Francisco eagerly participated in a lively cooperative-themed trivia session, with exciting prizes sponsored by local giants like PERA MPC and SAFRAGEMC, alongside other generous contributions from larger and medium-sized cooperative entities.
The festivities continued with an energizing Zumba session on October 7, 2023, followed by a community-wide clean-up drive, showcasing the cooperatives’ commitment to contributing to the welfare of the community.
From October 9 to 11, 2023, a comprehensive Livelihood Skills Training program was organized, focusing on the craft of making Bayong Bags. Women from Brgy. Bayugan 2, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, enthusiastically participated, with plans to establish a cooperative centered around Bayong Bag production, thus uplifting their economic prospects.
The community spirit was further evidenced through a heartwarming Community Service initiative on October 14, 2023, which included a nourishing feeding program and the distribution of essential grocery packages to 200 student-beneficiaries of Ebro Elementary School.
The month concluded on October 21, 2023, with a Tree Planting Activity at Sitio Damilag, Brgy. Pisaan, San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur, facilitated by the proactive involvement of SAFRA-ADAP MPC. The cooperatives fervently planted trees in the area, marking each one with the name of the respective cooperative responsible for its planting.
In uniting for the common goal of community welfare, the Cooperative Month celebrations underscored the cooperatives’ dedication to their Social Development Program. With each event, the cooperatives displayed their unwavering commitment to the betterment of San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur, fostering a spirit of collaboration and unity that left a meaningful impact on all involved. ********
