On March 24, 2025, the Consumer Welfare Group in Region 2 took a significant step to improve consumer protection by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create the Consumer Network (ConsumerNet).
This initiative brings together different government agencies to work together in advancing consumer welfare.
The newly formed ConsumerNet Council aims to achieve three key goals:
โข Increase in awareness among consumers about the government agencies that are mandated to implement consumer-related laws and perform consumer protection functions;
โข Provide access to redress based on the respective mandates of member agencies under the provisions of Consumer Act and other laws; and
โข Establish a collaborative body to promote consumer welfare and address relevant issues and concerns.
Through this partnership, the agencies aim to offer better protection for consumers in Region 2.
