Cooperatives are democratic organizations governed and managed by their members, who actively formulate policies and make decisions. How they control their cooperative is vital to their success; however, this has been a challenge to the officers, especially now that they were greatly affected by the global health crisis.
So, to equip them with the skills necessary to manage their operations smoothly and economically, the Cooperative Development Authority Region II Extension Office conducted the online Cooperative Governance and Management Training on July 21 and 23, 2021.
Regional Director Angelito U. Sacro, in his opening message, emphasized the importance of capability building for officers, not only for regulatory compliance. In addition, he expressed his appreciation to the participants because of their eagerness to learn, not only for their self-interest but also for the betterment of their cooperative.
The first batch of the training was participated by 20 micro, one small, and two medium cooperatives with 67 cooperative officers and members from Cagayan, Isabela, and Quirino. While in the second batch, 37 micro, six small, three medium, and two large cooperatives with 204 cooperative officers and members from Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino participated in the training.
Engr. Melchor Contillo, Mr. Christopher Corral, Ms. Leann Fontanilla, and Ms. Angelita Sarenas served as the resource speakers in the two-day online training activity.
