The CDA-R3, thru the leadership of Regional Director Marieta P. Hwang, has completed its third leg of the Certification Program for Cooperative Development Officers (CDOs) in Central Luzon. This program is for the implementation of the CDA Memorandum Circular-2023-12. Pursuant to R.A. 11535, the CDO Certification Program aims to capacitate the appointed and/or designated CDOs on the Basic Cooperative Course, promoting, forging, managing and sustaining a working partnership between the CDA, LGUs and cooperatives.
The conduct of the certification program in Bulacan was a collaborative effort between the CDA and its local partners in the cooperative sector. It was graced by the presence and overflowing support of the League of Cooperative Development Officers of the Philippines (led by Mr. Jon Louie Santiago, Marilao MCDO), the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (led by Atty. Jayric Amil), and the City/Municipal Cooperative Development Offices. Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando and Vice Governor Alex Castro have also extended their enthusiasm and support to the program.
Nineteen (19) participants from different LGUs of Bulacan have attended the 8-day training in Malolos Resort Club Royale, City of Malolos, Bulacan from August 7 to August 22, 2024. Having received their Certificates of Authority, these 19 participants are now fully-equipped to conduct the mandatory trainings (Fundamentals of Cooperatives and Governance and Management of Cooperatives) and Pre-Membership Education Seminar (PMES) for cooperatives in their areas of jurisdiction.
The conclusion and success of the CDO Certification Program in Bulacan will propel further growth of the cooperative movement in the province. This initiative aims to translate these collaborative efforts into higher compliance among cooperatives, more knowledgeable cooperative leaders, and more increased economic participation of the cooperative sector.
