The CDA Regional Extension Office III (CDA-R3), in coordination with the Office of ASEC Luz Yringco, Head of the Finance Cluster, conducted an Online Roadshow Workshop Orientation on Financial Performance Standards (PESOS) for Savings and Credit Cooperatives and other Types of Cooperatives engaged in Credit Facilities.
This orientation, an initiative of the Finance Cooperative Cluster, was in line with the CDA’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of cooperatives toward financial sustainability and effective self-regulation.
It aimed to educate and guide cooperatives in evaluating their financial performance using the PESOS indicators (Portfolio Quality, Efficiency, Stability, Operations, and Structure of Assets); equip their board members, officers, and management with the tools and knowledge necessary to assess their cooperative’s financial health; and help them achieve a Very Satisfactory performance rating within a seven-year time frame.
The online training activity was conducted in four batches (June 3, 4, 5, and 9, 2025), accommodating cooperatives from the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Zambales.
It was facilitated by the CDA-R3’s Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Section and assisted by the Cooperative Research, Information and Training Section (CRITS). Regional Director Marieta P. Hwang and Assistant Regional Director Carolina M. Miguel were also there throughout the activity, urging the participants to usher their cooperatives toward greater heights.
A hundred and seventy-one (171) cooperatives took part in this orientation. Most of them were Credit Cooperatives, Multipurpose Cooperatives, and other types of cooperative with savings and credit facilities.
Mr. Ernan L. Palabyab, Executive Assistant I in the Office of ASEC Yringco and the resource person of the entire training initiative, shared tons of knowledge with the three hundred and ninety-two (392) participants, who were mostly comprised of officers and staff engaged in the financial activities of their cooperatives.
Mr. Palabyab’s expertise in the financial performance standards and the cooperative movement in general, owing to his vast experience spanning thirty-six (36) years, made it a highly productive learning experience.
Following the successful conduct of this orientation, given the amount of enthusiasm shown by the resource person and the participants, the CDA hopes that this would lead to better financial performance of cooperatives in Region III.
