CDA and PSU Conducts Planning Session Program for Masterclass Program in Cooperative Development Management

In preparation for the forthcoming Masterclass in Cooperative Development Management, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region III Extension Office, in partnership with Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), now recognized as Pampanga State University (PSU), convened a comprehensive planning session at the DHVSU Multipurpose Hall on May 30, 2025.
The activity was formally opened by Regional Director Marieta P. Hwang of CDA Region III, who laid the groundwork for the session through strategic goal-setting initiatives aimed at aligning institutional priorities with the objectives of the upcoming program.
The planning session brought together a dynamic team of technical experts and academic professionals. From the CDA, the following individuals contributed their expertise: Ms. Jenalyn D. Ferrer, Senior Cooperative Development Specialist (CDS); Ms. Marichris M. Lanorio, CDS II; Mr. Brian John C. Mendoza, CDS II; Ms. Karen Krystel F. Ysais, CDS II; and Mr. Cresencio V. Pilao Jr., Field CDS. Representing PSU were Dr. Dynah D. Soriano, Director of the DHVSU-Training Service Office (TSO); Mr. Jose Joseph C. Soriano, faculty member; Ms. Aileen P. De Leon, DHVSU-TSO; Mr. Mike Haizon David, DHVSU College of Hospitality Management (CHM); and Ms. Mharree Jaie Shynne P. Gomez, DHVSU-College of Business Studies (CBS).
Together, these specialists engaged in a collaborative and in-depth discussion to design the framework of the masterclass. This included the identification and refinement of the core course offerings, the development of course descriptions, the determination of the appropriate duration (number of hours) for each course, and the selection of the most effective instructional modalities to be used.
The session culminated with a meaningful closing message from Ms. Carolina M. Miguel, Supervising CDS, who emphasized the value of inter-institutional collaboration in professionalizing cooperative development efforts through academic excellence and capacity-building.
This strategic and forward-thinking collaboration between the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and Pampanga State University (PSU) underscores the critical importance of institutionalized and formal education in strengthening the cooperative movement. By joining forces, both institutions are setting the stage for the cultivation of a highly competent and well-equipped new generation of cooperative development officers and visionary leaders. This bold move will be instrumental in driving sustainable growth, innovation, and inclusive development within the cooperative sector, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic advancement of communities across the country.
