Central Luzon Shines at 2024 CDA Gawad Parangal

Central Luzon shone brightly in the 2024 Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Gawad Parangal, held on October 29, 2024, at Crowne Plaza in Ortigas, Quezon City. This prestigious national gathering celebrated the exceptional contributions of cooperatives, local leaders, and institutions from across the Philippines. Among those recognized were numerous awardees from Central Luzon, celebrated for their dedication to cooperative ideals, economic growth, and social responsibility.

  1. Most Outstanding Cooperative (Large Category):
    San Jose Del Monte Savings and Credit Cooperative earned top honors as the most outstanding cooperative, showcasing excellence in cooperative governance, community service, and economic empowerment among large cooperatives.
  2. Outstanding Local Chief Executive for Cooperative Development (Municipal Category) – 3rd Place:
    Hon. Henry R. Lutao, Mayor of Marilao, Bulacan, was recognized for his commitment to creating a cooperative-friendly environment in Marilao, supporting the growth of local cooperatives and community development initiatives.
  3. Outstanding Local Chief Executive for Cooperative Development (Provincial Category) – 3rd Place:
    Hon. Daniel R. Fernando, Governor of Bulacan, stood out for his leadership and policies that have significantly contributed to cooperative development and social welfare across the province of Bulacan.
  4. Academe with CDA Laws Awareness Program:
    Aurora State College of Technology – College of Law and Don Honorio Ventura State University – College of Law were commended for their collaboration with the CDA in fostering cooperative law awareness among law students, a partnership that encourages legal understanding and support for cooperatives.
  5. Special Recognition of Laboratory Cooperative (Category I with up to 500 Member-Savers):
    Abucay Laboratory Cooperative was celebrated for its promotion of savings mobilization among children, a critical foundation in financial responsibility and cooperative principles.
  6. Cooperative with Highest Amount of Taxes Paid (Small Cooperative Category):
    Mangolago Marketing Cooperative received special distinction for its transparency and contribution to national development through responsible tax compliance, exemplifying fiscal responsibility among small cooperatives.
  7. Cooperative with Highest Regular Membership (Medium Cooperative Category):
    ASKI Multipurpose Cooperative earned recognition for its extensive member outreach, promoting inclusivity and cooperative spirit within its community.
  8. Special Recognition for Regional Director Marieta P. Hwang:
    Recognized by the Overseas Cooperatives Development Council, Regional Director Marieta P. Hwang was awarded the 2024 Outstanding Cooperative Innovator Award for her visionary leadership and impactful contributions to cooperative advancement.

As Central Luzon’s awardees took the forefront at this year’s 2024 CDA Gawad Parangal, their accomplishments underscored the region’s dedication to cooperative excellence. Their achievements stand as inspiring examples within the broader national landscape, reflecting the vital role of cooperatives in building an inclusive and progressive future.
