COMMUNITY SERVICE INITIATIVES OF THE ANGELES UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE (November 2020 to September 2021)

The COVID-19 pandemic is still causing a lot of difficulties for everyone, locally and globally. Cooperatives were not spared. However, cooperatives in our country have shown their strength in dealing with the various issues caused by the pandemic. The Angeles University Foundation had its fair share of helping out community members in order for them to address their needs. The following community service initiatives were carried out by AUFCOOP from November 2020 to September 2021.

  1. Pamascoop: We Recoopver As One

On December 14, 2020, as part of our annual PAMASCOOP tradition, this time with the theme: “We Recoopver as One,” the AUFCOOP gave cash donations to the following sectors:

* Operation Tulong Cagayan for the victims of the typhoon

*Minimal cash assistance was given to housekeepers, security guards, canteen personnel, engineering department, and garbage collectors of the Angeles University Foundation, Angeles University Foundation Medical Center, and Barangay Claro M. Recto

*Donated to Barangay Claro M. Recto to support their activities to benefit their PWD and Senior Citizens

  1. Support to Public Schools

The cooperative is a firm supporter of the initiatives of public schools to provide quality education which is  evidenced by the following:

*Participated in the Stakeholders’ Appreciation Day of Clemente N. Dayrit Sr. Memorial High School  on April 26, 2021 for our photocopier donation

*Donated photocopier to Marisol Bliss Elementary School on July 23, 2021

*Participated in the Stakeholders’ Appreciation Day of Claro M. Recto Information and Computer Technology High School on August 13, 2021 for our photocopier donation

* Cash donation to Jose P. Dizon Elementary School in support of their Brigada Pagbasa Project on September 29, 2021

* Cash donation in support of the construction of the wash area for Abelardo G. Tinio Elementary School.

  1. Donations to various stakeholders

The AUF Multi-Purpose Cooperative also supports initiatives of various sectors such as religious groups and the disadvantaged sectors, as evidenced by:

*Participation in the raffle ticket sales of Nuestra Senora Del Carmen Parish Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and San Agustin Parish Church.

*Donated to the following causes which cater to disabled persons – Give Gift of Mobility Program 2021 and Gintong Landas Project.

* Cash donation to some individuals who were infected by the COVID 19 virus.

  1. Pamanyaup Community Project

In order to provide financial assistance to coop members and their families who were infected by the Covid 19 virus, a portion of the Community Development Fund was allotted for this cause. This initiative is a response to CDA Memorandum issued by Usec. Joseph E. Encabo last July 16, 2021 regarding the temporary suspension of the implementation of CDA Memorandum Circular No. 2021-01. To date, 61 members and their families were assisted by this project.

Indeed, helping is something that cooperatives stand to deliver. Cooperatives, like the AUFCOOP, exist not really to make money but to provide opportunities for its members to thrive and for them to help other communities. That makes the presence of cooperatives felt and that’s how they make a big difference!
