The Bataan Transport Forum, held on May 21, 2025, at The Bunker, Capitol Compound, Brgy. San Jose, City of Balanga, Bataan, paved a valuable platform for transport cooperatives in the province. This initiative aimed to strengthen the newly registered Bataan Federation of Transport Cooperative (BAFETCO) and to support the overall growth of transport cooperatives in Bataan.
The forum gathered key personnel from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region III, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC), and the National Federation of Transport Cooperatives (NFTC) to share their expertise and guidance.
The esteemed guests who graced the program were, P/Gen. Richard Albano, Regional Director – LTFRB Region III, Ms. Marieta P. Hwang, Regional Director – CDA R3 EO, Mr. Misael Melinas, Chairperson – NFTC, Ms. Cristina Garcia, Vice Governor of Bataan, and Ms. Ludivina G. Banzon, Officer-in-Charge – PCEDO Bataan.
The program featured topics that will equip participants with vital knowledge and strategic direction. A significant highlight of the forum was the panel discussion with the collaborating agencies to address issues and concerns commonly encountered by Cooperatives from the transport sector.
Resource speakers from the CDA Region III Extension Office also shared their invaluable expertise with Transport Cooperatives on a range of crucial topics.
The series of lectures began with Mr. Brian John Mendoza, who offered comprehensive insights into Governance among Transport Cooperatives. Following him, Mr. Michael Loui Nuevo presented on the CDA’s Programs and Assistance available to cooperatives. The session concluded with Ms. Ana May Doctolera, who discussed common Inspection Findings and Filed Complaints among Transport Cooperatives.
The Bataan Transport Forum demonstrates the commitment of the Provincial Government of Bataan and its partners to the development and empowerment of transport cooperatives. The active participation of CDA Region III, the LTFRB, and the OTC as resource institutions further solidified the forum’s significance, paving the way for a more robust and harmonious transport cooperative sector in Bataan.
