Another batch of Cooperative Development Officers (CDOs) have completed the Trainers Training for CDA Certification Program, this time in the Province of Cavite through the efforts of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region IV-A Extension Office, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Cavite, and the League of Cooperative Development Officers in the Philippines (LCDOP) – Cavite Chapter. The training included 30 CDOs and staff from LGUs across the province, including the Office of the Provincial Cooperative Development Officer (OPCDO) and LGUs from Alfonso, Amadeo, Bacoor City, Carmona City, Dasmariñas City, General Trias City, Imus City, Tagaytay City, Trece Martires City, General Emilio Aguinaldo, General Mariano Alvarez, Indang, Magallanes, Mendez-Nuñez, Naic, Noveleta, Rosario, Silang, and Tanza.
This course is an essential component of the CDA’s efforts to execute Memorandum Circular 2023-12, which describes the CDA Certification Program for CDOs. The main objective of this program is to strengthen CDOs’ capacities to fulfill their tasks as specified in Republic Act 11535 within the national framework of cooperative development. The training focuses on the delivery of CDA Mandatory Seminars, such as Fundamentals of Cooperative, Cooperative Management and Governance, and Pre-Membership Education Seminar for Cooperatives.
The program’s goal is to improve the overall performance and governance of cooperatives in their particular jurisdictions by providing the required skills and information to CDOs.
The CDO Certification Program was a rigorous eight-day training event held on July 24, 31, and August 1, 2, 7, 8, 13, and 14. The course concluded on Day 6 with the participants taking the final test, which was a prerequisite for their certification. On Day 7, August 13, all 30 participants completed their demonstration teaching, illustrating their ability to share what they had learned.
The program’s success was partly due to the experience and guidance offered by resource speakers from the CDA Region IV-A Extension Office, who played an important role in providing the training.
With their certification completed, the 30 participants are completely prepared to use their newly acquired knowledge and abilities to promote and develop cooperatives in their local cities and municipalities. This milestone represents a big step forward in the continuous development and empowerment of cooperatives in Cavite.
