Narrative Activity Report: CDA-PCA Partnership CFIDP Year 3 Implementation

From June 9 to June 15, 2024, the Costa Resort in Palawan became the hub of activity for the third-year implementation of the CDA-PCA Partnership CFIDP (Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program). This initiative aimed to empower local coconut farmer cooperatives through capability training, seminars, and collaborative events.

June 9, 2024: Venue Preparation

The event preparations commenced energetically as the entire team meticulously set up the venue at Costa Resort. From arranging seating to ensuring technical setups were in place, every detail was handled with precision to guarantee a conducive environment for learning and collaboration throughout the week.

June 10, 2024: Pre-registration Seminar

The second day dawned with anticipation as participants gathered for the Pre-registration Seminar. The day’s proceedings were initiated with a warm welcome by Regional Director Alberto A. Sabarias, setting a tone of enthusiasm and commitment. CPDAS Sr. CDS Jefhtee R. Panganiban provided insightful data, underscoring the interest of 23 Coconut Farmers Organizations in formalizing as cooperatives. Keynote speakers Mr. Cristian De Ade and Mr. Ronnel Pidor delivered compelling presentations, addressing critical aspects of cooperative development. Mr. Mark Manrique adeptly facilitated the program as Emcee, ensuring smooth transitions and engaging interactions.

June 11, 2024: Financial Management Seminar

Building on the momentum, Day 3 focused on enhancing financial management skills among 27 cooperatives. CRITS Sr. CDS Ms. Eva Loraine R. Cataje led an informative Financial Management Seminar, providing practical tools and strategies. The program included an introduction to CFIDP’s objectives by the Regional Director and was skillfully hosted by Ms. Fatima Casaul. A pre-test, facilitated by Ms. Roxanne Gayzze Santiago and Mr. Mark Manrique, gauged participants’ initial understanding. Ms. Marian A. Concepcion, program coordinator, recognized the cooperatives’ dedication and active participation.

Simultaneously, half of the team conducted a courtesy call to the Honorable Mayor of Puerto Princesa City, Hon. Lucilo Bayron, fostering relationships and garnering support for cooperative initiatives within the city.

Later in the day, the team participated in a successful collaboration meeting of the MIMAROPA Regional Cooperative Development Council. This meeting laid the groundwork for upcoming Cooperative Month celebration in Palawan, emphasizing unity and shared goals among stakeholders.

June 12, 2024: Business Continuity Management Training

Day 4 focused on preparing cooperatives for operational resilience through Business Continuity Management Training. The sessions equipped participants with essential skills to navigate challenges effectively. Following the two-day training, a post-test evaluated the application of learned concepts, ensuring readiness for real-world scenarios.

June 13, 2024: Malasakit sa Kooperatiba ni Senator Bong Go

Senator Bong Go’s initiative, “Malasakit sa Kooperatiba,” highlighted Day 5, symbolizing government support and recognition of cooperative efforts. Five deserving cooperatives received 50,000 pesos each in financial assistance, affirming their vital role in local economic development.

June 14, 2024: Financial Literacy and Graduation Ceremony

The penultimate day featured a comprehensive Financial Literacy Seminar delivered by Sr. CDS of CRITS, Eva Loraine R. Cataje. Participants gained invaluable insights into sustainable financial practices. The day culminated in a heartfelt graduation ceremony, celebrating the achievements and commitment of participants throughout the CFIDP Year 3 implementation.

The CFIDP Year 3 Implementation in Palawan at Costa Resort was a testament to collaborative efforts and dedication toward empowering coconut farmer cooperatives. Through strategic seminars, practical training sessions, and meaningful engagements with stakeholders, the event strengthened cooperative capabilities and fostered sustainable development. Moving forward, the partnerships forged and knowledge gained promise to propel Palawan’s cooperative sector toward greater resilience and prosperity.
