Amidst disadvantages, exhaustion, and countless encounters, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Occidental Mindoro Field Office once again proved that in the spirit of public service, no distance is too far and no obstacle too great. Our commitment to bringing meaningful change to every corner of the province remains unwavering.
A productive Pre-Registration Seminar (PRS) was successfully conducted in the mountainous and remote Sitio Magarang, Barangay Purnaga, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro. This initiative served as a beacon of hope to the Indigenous Cultural Community of 30 Mangyans, 17 Male and 13 Female, exemplifying how cooperatives can provide vital opportunities for economic empowerment and social justice, especially for marginalized and underserved groups.
Despite the area’s lack of electricity and its challenging terrain, the CDA Occidental Mindoro team, in partnership with the LGU of Magsaysay and the NCIP San Jose Service Center, pushed forward with determination. Led by CDA MIMAROPA Regional Director Alberto Ablon Sabarias, the team brought new hope and concrete support to a peaceful yet isolated community surrounded by a breathtaking natural environment.
Given the limitations of the area, particularly the absence of power supply, the seminar made use of traditional visual aids, manila paper and handwritten materials through the initiative and resourcefulness of truly yours, Reyzard D. Oliveros the CDS II/Program Coordinator of CDA Occidental Mindoro and the on-the-job trainees (OJTs) from Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC). These tools, though simple, became effective instruments for delivering the Pre-Registration Seminar in an engaging and interactive manner.
The atmosphere during the PRS was filled with eagerness and enthusiasm. Participants demonstrated genuine interest and active involvement throughout the sessions. Their attentiveness and participation showed their deep desire for progress and empowerment through cooperative development.
This initiative is a clear testament to the power of collaboration between government agencies, local communities, and educational institutions. It also reinforces the belief that no community is too far-flung to benefit from the life-changing opportunities brought about by cooperative development.
Through continued dedication and unified efforts, the CDA Occidental Mindoro Field Office remains committed to reaching more communities and paving the way for inclusive, grassroots-driven development.
