2nd Leg of CDA’s Cooperative School on Wheels and Handholding Activities held in the Province of Masbate

Masbate City – The second leg of the CDA’s annual regional information caravan dubbed as “Cooperative School on Wheels and Handholding Activities” was held in the Province of Masbate on February 21-22, 2024 at Landungan Training Center, Nursery, Masbate City. This is to provide updates to the cooperatives about the new and existing services, programs and projects implemented by the Cooperative Development Authority as well as to extend assistance to comply with the requirements in processing cooperative registration documents and issuance of Certificate of Compliance (COC).
The first day of the activity was graced by the CDA Acting Regional Director Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III, PGO-Masbate Executive Assistant III Mr. Edmundo Escape and Masbate Cooperative Union representative Mr. Miguel Zurbito. The program was kickstarted by the Bureau of Treasury represented by Ms. Maricris Fernandez who introduced the investment programs that can be availed by the Cooperatives. It was followed by CDS I Lady Loriebeh S. Bernal who discussed about the Credit Surety Fund, then legal updates by CDS II Frances Faye O. Brojela. The CDA’s programs and projects were presented by CDS II Darine L. Tupaz, while CDS II Jon Andrei Emmanuel O. Banday and Sr. CDS Maricho T. Pobre elaborated the registration process and requirements for the issuance of COC. The open forum was facilitated by CDS II Nacida F. Aspa of CDA Masbate Contact Office.
Simultaneously, a training on Fundamentals of Cooperatives was conducted by CDS II Isidro D. Navea III which were attended by cooperative officers and members from different cooperatives in the province of Masbate. A total of 181 participants from 52 micro cooperatives completed the training.
A courtesy visit was also made by Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III together with CDS II Patrick V. Labastida, CDS II May Celestine S. Nery and CDA Masbate Provincial Coordinator Yvonne D. Gulosino to Masbate Governor Antonio T. Kho, Vice-Gov. Olga T. Kho, 1st District Cong. Atty. Ricardo T. Kho and 2nd District Cong. Atty. Olga “Ara” T. Kho to follow-up the status of the Credit Surety Fund-Province of Masbate.
On the second day, cooperative representatives flocked to the venue to avail the handholding activity. Most of the concerns were raised to the Registration Section and Supervision and Examination Section (SES) which was solved together through the collaborative effort of the CDA R5 personnel. Some of the concerns resolved on-the-spot is the creation of ECoopRIS and CAIS account as well as submission of CDA Accreditation documents.
While the handholding activity is on-going, CDS II Isidro D. Navea III once again facilitated the training on Cooperative Governance and Management which were attended by a total of 167 participants coming from 52 micro cooperatives. Meanwhile, Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III make an appearance at DTI Radio Program on 98.3 Spirit FM Masbate, “Negosyo at Konsyumer, Kayo ang Bida”. He also paid a visit to Masbate City Mayor Socrates M. Tuason together with CDS II Patrick V. Labastida, CDS I Lady Loriebeh S. Bernal, HRMA Melvin B. Astibe and CDA Provincial Coordinator Yvonne D. Gulosino to follow-up the status of CSF-Masbate City.
