Naga City – The Cooperative Development Authority Region 5 Extension Office, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas South Luzon Regional Office conducted a financial literacy training for coconut farmers’ cooperatives (CFCs) last November 7, 2024 at the Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City, Camarines Sur. Over fifteen (15) cooperatives had participated to enhance their knowledge and skills on financial management.The training was facilitated by Mr. Jose Roberto SA. Almeda, an entrepreneur and a prominent banker from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas South Luzon Regional Office.The event received positive feedback from the participants, who found the training insightful for improving their cooperatives’ financial stability.
“Ang financial literacy ay isang lifelong learning at ang mahalaga, hindi kailangang magsimula sa malaking halaga. Ang simple at consistent na hakbang ay maaaring magbunga ng malalaking pagbabago sa hinaharap” shared by Mr. Edgar Tabornal, Chairperson of La Purisima Pakili Agriculture Cooperative.In his closing message, Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III emphasized the importance of financial education for CFCs, highlighting how effective financial management can be in attaining meaningful growth with diverse business undertaking aligned with the coconut industry.
