CDA Region V receives appreciation from DSWD, vows to continue support and collaboration on 4Ps and EPAHP implementation in Bicol

by: DARINE L. TUPAZ, CDS II

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region V had received two (2) Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol, in recognition for its unwavering support to the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program as member of the Regional Advisory Council (RAC), and as a member of the Regional Convergence Team (RCT) under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) for Fiscal Year 2023.

The first certificate was conferred by Mr. Francis Martillano, Project Development Officer II & Naga Focal Person of 4Ps in DSWD-Bicol during the Partnership Implementation Review conducted last November 29, 2023, at Kanzo Hall and Restaurant in Legazpi City, Albay.

Meanwhile, another certificate was given by Ms. Alayssa Cabigao of DSWD- Bicol last December 1, 2023, during the EPAHP Annual Conference and Program Review and Evaluation Workshop held at the Fiesta Ballroom Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay. These two (2) certificates were duly accepted by Cooperatives Development Specialist II, Mr. Darine L. Tupaz on behalf of the CDA Region V.CDA’s strong support and collaboration with DSWD is crucial in addressing critical concerns on hunger mitigation, food and nutrition insecurity, and poverty reduction through the empowerment of the cooperative sector as potential food supplier to the supplementary feeding program of the Department of Education (Dep Ed) and DSWD, and other similar programs from other partner agencies.

CDA also supports the empowerment and registration of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) into cooperatives.

Based on the record of the EPAHP Regional Convergence Team (RCT), there is one (1) SLPA which is now registered as a cooperative at CDA Regional Extension Office V, largely known as the Libmanan Sustainable Livelihood Producers Cooperative. With the potential gain that the cooperatives may benefit from the Supplementary Feeding Program & Food Stamp Program of the DSWD, the Regional Convergence Team aims to increase the registration of these CBOs and SLPAs into cooperatives next year.

Fueled by the genuine interest of championing the welfare of the registered cooperatives in the Region, CDA affirms its commitment and vows to support the dynamic collaboration and convergence among other partner agencies in the attainment of efficient and effective implementation of various DSWD Programs in Bicol.
