CDA sits with PSU for Future SUCs MOA

by MARIE CHRIS G. VALENCIA, PCDS- CDA Camsur Contact Office

In pursuit of a more viable and sustainable responsive cooperative movement, a budding partnership with SUCs in the province is set to unfold this year.  The CDA Naga Extension Office headed by its OIC RD Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III sits with the University President of Partido State University Raul G. Bradecina, Ph.D. for an exploratory meeting last June 13, 2023, at PSU Executive Board Room.

Present during the fruitful meeting were Monina M. Bechayda, Chief – Cooperative Research, Information & Training Section, Emalyn Ruth Borja, CDS II, Acting Budget Officer, Marie Chris G. Valencia, Provincial CDS of Camarines Sur Contact Office. On the other hand, the Vice President for Research, Extension and Knowledge Management Dr. Patricia M. Candelaria, College of Business & Management Program Directors of respective courses, Calyd T. Cerio, Rhesty R. Biares, Jonalyn M. Perina, Adrian P. Abante and Menchie Del Castillo were also actively present to witness the activity.

This collaboration was made possible through the Inception Meeting which was conducted during the first quarter of the year with PSU-CBM Dean Dr. Rina A. Puerta. The Dean together with other Program Directors actively respond to the proposal of extending the services of the College and its Instructors who have expertise in the field of research, extension services and organizational development. Through this, sprung the injection of the cooperative’s mantra of uplifting the quality of life of every Filipino through the commitment to continuous learning and skills upgrading.

The primary purpose of the exploratory meeting is to encourage the Partido State University under the College of Business & Management legwork to become an Accredited Training Provider in consonance with MC 2023-11 & MC 2015-09. This breakthrough will open opportunities for the academe to expand their horizon in the field of research and teaching to which their clienteles are the registered cooperatives in the entire province. Further, this will become an avenue for community strengthening, leadership skills and development of officers and members for the greater good of their cooperatives. Through the emergence and participation of lone State University in Partido Area which has six other campuses, the spirit of cooperativism will distinctly be felt in the entire District IV. The secondary purpose is to enhance the existing MOA for On-the-Job Training Program for graduating students that the PSU-CBM annually endorsed to the Authority to immerse in the actual job.  The said immersion in the Authority is well-appreciated and the products of learning of PSU through the student are well-seen through their diligence and discipline at work. Follow through, Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III encouraged the collaboration of CDA and PSU by forging a Memorandum of Agreement that will further strengthen the commitment of both institutions to open the possibilities of having Cooperative subjects in the business curriculum course. He gave stress to the importance of cooperatives as one of the engines of economic growth, a socio-business enterprise and another career opportunity for the students to consider. With that, a gradual introduction of the essentials of cooperative is much needed in the field of academe. Dr. Raul G. Bradecina acknowledges the said effort that putting into an agreement such kind of endeavor is much needed to further nurture what needs to be further developed for the benefit of our respective clientele – the Bicolano people.

Capping the activity is the positive commitment of both institutions and hopefully this second semester, the Memorandum of Agreement will be inked soon.
