Naga City, October 27, 2023 – John Roy C. San Juan, a student from Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), displayed his exceptional knowledge and quick thinking as he clinched the championship title in the 1st Regional Cooperative Quiz Bee Competition. This historic event took place on October 27, 2023, at 1:00 in the afternoon, and was hosted by the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology in Naga City.
In a thrilling competition that featured some of the brightest minds from various universities and colleges across the Bicol Region, John Roy C. San Juan stood out as the victor, capturing the hearts of the audience and judges with his depth of knowledge and quick responses.
Mar Friedrich F. Ampongan from the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) demonstrated remarkable resilience as he secured the second place, following a heart-pounding tie-breaking round that had spectators on the edge of their seats.
Jane V. Faurillo, the representative from the host school, Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST), demonstrated her knowledge and dedication, securing the third place after three intense rounds that included questions of varying difficulty levels.
Other participating schools included Benrey DLR. Gabalfin, Jr. from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), Kathrine Joyce P. Rubio from Ateneo De Naga University (AdNU), and Miliscent Imperial from Partido State University (PSU). These students showcased their cooperative knowledge and competed with great enthusiasm.
The 1st Regional Cooperative Quiz Bee Competition was organized as part of the Cooperative Development Authority’s (CDA) initiative to raise awareness about the cooperative movement in the Bicol Region. This event coincided with this year’s Cooperative Month Celebration, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and collaboration among the region’s educational institutions.
The competition aimed to foster a deeper understanding of cooperatives and their role in the community. It also encouraged students to engage in cooperative activities, promote teamwork, and showcase their expertise in this vital field.
The event proved to be a resounding success, not only in terms of knowledge sharing but also in promoting camaraderie among students and institutions in the region. It highlighted the significance of cooperation and teamwork, which are essential principles of cooperative movements, in building a stronger and more harmonious society.
