Last March 6, 2025, the Cooperative My Day event was successfully held at the Sorsogon National Government Center, bringing together approximately 168 cooperatives and cooperative members from across the province. The event aimed to educate, update, and strengthen the cooperative sector by imparting knowledge on the latest programs and policies of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

The event began with a convocation, setting the tone for a day of learning and collaboration. Engr. Rene Hermo, Chairman of the Sorsogon Cooperative Union, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of cooperatives in fostering economic growth and community development.

Following the opening, invited guest speakers from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Bureau of the Treasury presented their respective programs that are beneficial to cooperatives. Their discussions focused on financial literacy, investment opportunities, and government support for cooperatives.

The program continued with a series of presentations covering essential cooperative topics. The Cooperative Research Information and Training Section shared research-based strategies and training programs to enhance operations. The Legal Section provided updates on regulatory compliance, governance policies, and legal responsibilities to ensure adherence to CDA guidelines.

The Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Registration session outlined the program’s benefits, helping cooperatives secure bank credit without collateral. The Cooperative Project Development and Assistance Section (CPDAS) introduced funding opportunities and support programs for cooperative growth.

The Registration Section guided cooperatives through the proper registration process to ensure compliance with CDA requirements, while the Supervision and Examination Section (SES) discussed new report submission guidelines, reinforcing accountability and transparency.

Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III, CDA Regional Director, then delivered a special message, reiterating CDA’s commitment to supporting cooperatives through policy development, capacity-building initiatives, and continuous engagement.

The event concluded with the Sorsogon Cooperative Union presenting the official website for the Bicol Cooperative Congress, an annual gathering of cooperatives in the region. Sorsogon is set to host this year’s congress, marking a significant milestone for the province’s cooperative sector.
