NAGA CITY, Camarines Sur – At least ten Modern Public Utility Vehicles are scheduled to dash the Del Rosario – Panganiban Drive – Centro – Vice Versa route after its launching on morning of April 17, 2023 at Plaza Rizal, Naga City.
Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion, LTFRB Bicol Regional Director MGen. Antonio Gardiola Jr. (Ret), and CDA Region 5 OIC Regional Director Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III graced the said launching along with the officers and members of Naga City Allied Transport Cooperative (NACIATRASCO) headed by their chairman, Mr. Danilo Cosa. Highlight of the occasion is the ceremonial turnover of key between the manufacturer and NACIATRASCO.
The Camsur Multipurpose Cooperative (CMPC) funded the initial ten units that shall be operated by NACIATRASCO. Additional units still under the graces of Camsur MPC are expected to be released by middle of May, to be operated by another transport cooperative.
These fully air-conditioned modern public utility vehicles feature 22 seating capacity plus five to ten standing capacity, with Wi-Fi, GPS and television equipped to each unit.
The Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), first announced in 2017, aims to replace PUVs that are in service for 15 years and beyond – with new ones, that conform with the Philippine National Standards such as units powered by an electric powertrain or a Euro 4-compliant diesel engine, while putting premium on the safety and comfort of passengers.
