Implementing the CDA-PCSO Partnership Program on Medical Assistance for Cooperatives (PMAC): Cooperative Development Authority awards check to a cooperative member-beneficiary in Ocampo, Camarines Sur

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa CDA sa pagkakaloob ng financial assistance, ganun din sa mga nagdasal para sa aking ligtas na operasyon at sa iba pang financial donations dahil wala naman kaming malaking halaga na nakahanda bago ako sumailalim sa heart bypass surgery. Kaya malaking pasasalamat sa lahat ng mga kaibigan at mga co-teacher ko. Salamat po sa gabos na nagtarabang.” Mrs. Clara R. Borja, retired high school teacher and current Treasurer of Ocampo High School Teachers and Employees Cooperative.

OCAMPO, Camarines Sur – Retired High School Teacher and current Treasurer of Ocampo High School Teachers and Employees Cooperative, Mrs. Clara R. Borja receives a symbolic check from Cooperative Development Authority amounting to Ten Thousand Pesos (₱10,000.00), in a ceremonial awarding activity conducted earlier today, October 10, 2023, at Ocampo National High School, Ocampo, Camarines Sur.Present during the awarding were the School Principal, Mr. Justino C. Cabarles, Jr., PMAC Beneficiary, Mrs. Clara R. Borja, Chairman of Ocampo High School Teachers and Employees Cooperative, Mr. Benedicto T. Panga and its General Manager, Mrs. Ursula Adriano, together with some of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the said cooperative.

Meanwhile, CDA is duly represented by its Acting Supervising CDS, Engr. Zaldy G. Bermejo together with the Cooperatives Development Specialist II, Ms. May Celestine Nery.

In his message to the members of Ocampo High School Teachers and Employees Cooperative, Engr. Bermejo underscored the role of CDA is the successful implementation of the CDA-PCSO Partnership Program on Medical Assistance for Cooperatives (PMAC).

Pursuant to Memorandum of Agreement signed between the CDA and PCSO on March 7, 2022, CDA was tasked to provide medical and health assistance to members of micro and small cooperatives with health-related problems and medical needs which may include, among others: confinement, dialysis injection, chemo drugs, specialty medicines, hemodialysis, laboratory and diagnostic and imaging procedures, implant, and medical devices. The Agreement also seeks to promote and strengthen cooperative hospitals as partners in the provision of these health-related concerns.Section 6 of Memorandum Circular No. 2022-30 or the Guidelines on the Implementation of CDA-PCSO Partnership Program on Medical Assistance for Cooperatives (PMAC) provides a matrix of medical assistance that CDA may grant to cooperative members depending on the medical or hospitalization cost they incurred. The release of assistance, however, would depend on the availability of funds coming from CDA-PCSO Partnership Program.In his closing message, cooperative Chairman, Mr. Benedicto T. Panga extends his heartfelt appreciation to the guidance and support extended by CDA Region V, for the relevant legal advice given by Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III, in addressing issues with some erring members of the cooperative, and in providing practical solution to ensure its continued services for its members. Likewise, Mr. Panga, has appreciated the efforts of Mrs. Borja in in coming-up with a more efficient collection system for them to collect sums of money due to the cooperative.

“Malaking pasasalamat ko po sa mga nagbigay ng prayers at nagbigay ng donations mula sa lahat ng mga kaibigan at mga co-teacher ko, kahit malaki ang nagagstos ko sa maintenance. Dakulang pasasalamat ko po sa CDA, sa lahat nga kaibigan na tumulong at sa mga kaibigan ng anak ko sa financial assistance para sa akin.” shared by Mrs. Borja on the financial assistance given to her to augment hospitalization cost for her surgery.

At present, Mrs. Borja is now capable of performing her usual function as Treasurer of the cooperative, thanks to the unwavering support of its Chairman, Mr. Benedicto T. Panga and its General Manager, Mrs. Ursula Adriano, and the rest of the Board of Directors (BOD).

Fueled by the genuine interest to champion the welfare of the cooperative members and in the highest interest of public service, CDA Region 5 affirms its commitment to sustain the efficient and effective implementation of the CDA-PCSO Partnership Program on Medical Assistance for Cooperatives (PMAC) in Bicol Region.
