Start-Up Training for Newly Registered Cooperatives: Empowering Cooperatives on Taking Initial Steps to Grasp the Future

Camalig, Albay – The Cooperative Development Authority-Albay Contact Office together with the Albay Provincial Cooperative, Enterprise and Manpower Development Office (APCEMDO) spearheaded a Start-Up Training for Newly Registered Cooperative which was held last August 28, 2024 at Farmers Auditorium, Albay Farmers Bounty Village, Cabangan, Camalig, Albay. This training was conducted to equipped officers with knowledge and set awareness on what they are going to do after registration. The said training was started by the preliminaries thru audio-visual presentation. Then, Ms. Regin M. Aycocho, CDS II of CDA-Albay acknowledged participants from the different cooperatives. Subsequently, Ms. Lucille L. Arcilla, Acting APCEMDO Head, shared a short welcome message giving the warm support of their office for continues capacity building for coop officers that will be used for on their initial operation. This activity was attended by 43 officers from 20 cooperatives in Albay composing of 21 males and 22 females.Ms. Ma. Lucia Myrlin S. Botin, PCDS and Ms. Cristine C. Cantes, CDS II of CDA-Albay served as the resource speaker during this event. The training begins with a pre-test to gauge the awareness and knowledge of participants on what are their next steps after registration and compliance not just to the Authority but also to other agencies. Topics tackled were the process of forming a cooperative, post-registration orientation, books to be kept and reports for submission. All participants were provided with sample templates such as registry of membership, share and transfer book, share capital certificate and share capital record/passbook.Participants have also shared the process of recruitment of new members and approval of its membership. For the closing remarks, Mr. Simeon M. Jacob Jr., Planning Officer II of APCEMDO have extended his gratitude for the presence and active participation of cooperative officers. Although we have encountered power interruption, the event ended successfully with clear sharing of ideas and clarify concerns of cooperatives where learning will be shared to their members as they go back to their respective coops. This milestone is the fruit of collaboration of personnel from CDA-Albay Contact Office together with the Provincial Government of Albay through Albay Provincial Cooperative, Enterprise and Manpower Development Office (APCEMDO) personnel and also with the help of two (2) staff assigned in CDA-Albay from Government Internship Program (GIP) of DOLE Regional Office V.
