Last January 1 and 8, 2021, the whole City of Silay was hit by heavy rains which led to massive flooding affecting most of the residents of the city. Notwithstanding the fact that there is still fear brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the residents of Silay City were in deep trouble and anxiety as yet they were faced with another disaster.
GEMSC otherwise known as the Government Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Silay City is a cooperative situated in Barangay 1 Poblacion, Silay City, Negros Occidental. GEMSC operates within the said area and as part of their social responsibility to the community, initiated a way and linked with the barangay officials to help ease the anxiety of the residents and also lessen the burden brought by the flooding.
