Despite the threat of the COVID-19, the interest for learning and education of the cooperatives never stops. In fact, within these trying times, the cooperatives needed more support and guidance for sustainability in order to answer the needs of their respective members.

As the submission of Mandatory Reports and the issuance of Certificate of Compliance approaches, the CDA R7 conducted a tutorial and orientation for the preparation and familiarization of reportorial requirements. It was facilitated by Cooperative Development Specialists II, Ms. Reysan R. Mapait and Ms Anne Rose L. Rollo. It was held at the Nonoc Chapter Multipurpose Cooperative, and was participated by 23 representatives from 10 cooperatives on March 12, 2021.

By-laws. The Cooperative Governance and Management aims to transfer knowledge of values, practical experiences, management techniques for a safe and sound operation. Both trainings were participated by 16 cooperatives with a total number of 29 participants.

The initiatives of the City Mayor of Talisay, Honorable Gerald Anthony “Samsam” V. Gullas, Jr. for coordination and partnership is very relevant to the growth and development of cooperatives. The assignment of the Cooperative Development Office, headed by Ms. WynAnn Villanueva to focus on the cooperatives, is a big factor in capacitating the cooperatives. Yet, the cooperatives themselves have to do their share in the partnership by adhering to the capability building programs, cooperative principles and practices.

Cooperative Development Authority of Region, Director II Nora P. Patron, Ph.D. with the active CDA personnel, lauded the efforts of the City of Talisay on their full support to the cooperatives through partnerships and collaboration with the Authority and other stakeholders.
