In a significant stride towards enhancing cooperative education in the region, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Eastern Visayas and the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) have solidified a partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The momentous occasion took place on April 3, 2024, at the Office of the President, UEP New Administration Building, Catarman, Northern Samar. Representing the Cooperative Development Authority, Regional Director Venus Jornales and UEP President, Dr. Cherry I. Ultra, sealed the collaboration during a brief ceremony. The partnership aims to elevate the standard of education and training for cooperatives in the province, primarily through the implementation of Training of Trainers (TOT) programs for qualified Cooperative Accredited Training Providers and future CDA Certification Program.
The event garnered the presence of notable figures including the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Atty. Emily Acompañado, Engr. Romeo Cardenas, Head of PCCAO, CDA Sr CDS Irene Petilla, BSC ASECCO BOD Chairperson Farah A. Madulid, along with CDS II Elihu Remegio and Sr CDS Rowan Delos Santos. Dr. Cherry Ultra, expressing her commitment to the cause, emphasized UEP’s dedication to providing essential training programs and support to fortify cooperatives in the region. Her words underscored UEP’s pivotal role in fostering growth and sustainability within the cooperative sector. Regional Director Venus Jornales hailed the partnership as a crucial step towards driving excellence in cooperative education. She expressed optimism in the collaborative efforts between CDA and UEP, foreseeing fruitful outcomes that will empower cooperatives and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
