CDA offers One-Time Grant of Amnesty to Qualified Non-Compliant and Dissolved Cooperatives

On July 4, 2024 at 10:00AM, the CDA Region VIII Extension Office conducts a virtual orientation on the MC No 2024-09 with the Subject “One-Time Grant of Amnesty for Dissolved Cooperative and Cooperatives with Pending Involuntary Dissolution Cases or Non-Compliant Cooperatives and the Requirements and Procedures for Availing of the Same.”

Participants from various cooperatives in the region, both non-compliant and compliant, attended the orientation. Officers from partner-institutions attended as well, showing their support for the developmental programs of the sector.

Regional Director Venus M. Jornales, in her welcoming message, encouraged the dissolved and non-compliant cooperatives to take advantage of this initiative to ensure their continued operations and contributions to their communities. The goal is for cooperatives to be fully compliant and sustainable organizations.

Atty. Jasper M. Carias served as the resource speaker for the MC 2024-09 and shared its contents, the coverage, documentary requirements, procedural processes and the exceptions. In concluding the event, the Acting Assistant Regional Director Maripaz M. Del Pilar, highlighted challenges in complying with mandatory requirements as the main reason for most cooperatives having difficulty to change their status from noncompliant to compliant, noting that not all coops are complying with the regulatory and administrative requirements of RA 9520.

This One-Time Grant of Amnesty Program spearheaded by the Cooperative Development Authority is a demonstration of its commitment to promote the development of cooperatives under its jurisdiction barking on the principle of social justice, emphasizing that a sustainable cooperative mirrors a sustain able community.
