The Credit Surety Fund of Northern Samar (CSF Norte) recently held a successful interim election of officers, completing the set of officers on July 5, 2024, via webinar, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards official registration. The election, which saw a strong turnout of primary members, highlights the cooperative’s commitment to robust governance, active member participation, and visionary leadership. The newly elected officers bring a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives to the CSFC.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region VIII Office, led by Regional Director Ms. Venus M. Jornales, Irene R. Petilla, Sr. CDS, Ivy C. Avestruz, CDS II, Walter Marc C. Cantero, CDS I, and Elihu A. Remigio, CDS II assigned in Northern Samar. The meeting also addressed important agenda items such as updates on CSF documentation, scheduling the cooperative’s pledged contribution, CDA updates, and plans for an upcoming roadshow and inviting prestigious guests for the successful creation of Northern Samar Credit Surety Fund Cooperative (NSCSFC).
The support of the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, represented by Governor Edwin Marino C. Ongchuan and various provincial government officials, is instrumental in establishing the Northern Samar Credit Surety Fund Cooperative, being an LGU-partnered cooperative. The CDA focuses on the quality of cooperatives rather than their number, as it is crucial for fostering a thriving, sustainable cooperative sector.
The successful election and productive meeting bring the CSF Norte closer to its goal of official registration and pave the way for the cooperative to continue serving its members and the wider community. The cooperative movement celebrates the International Day of Cooperatives on July 6 this year, with the theme “Cooperatives Building a Better Future for All.” This milestone for the CSF Norte aligns with the cooperative movement’s efforts to showcase its contributions to sustainable development and accelerate progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
