On January 25, 2024, Thursday, the CDA Region Office VIII’s conduct of a series of workshops on the use of the Cooperative Assessment Information System (CAIS) and orientation on the CDA Mandatory Reports for Non-compliant cooperatives started marching on at its Conference Hall in Tacloban City, Leyte.
With thirty-four (34) confirmed participants representing the Non-compliant cooperatives and registered just last year 2023, from across region eight, the first ever conduct of the said workshop-orientation for this year 2024 has successfully transpired. Regional Director, Ms. Venus M. Jornales commenced the activity with full of hope for all the participants. She refined the importance of compliance of the cooperatives to the requirements for the issuance of the Certificate of Compliance (COC) so as to continue its existence and success. The Supervision and Examination Section (SES) is at the forefront of this activity aiming to reach out to the cooperatives, to guide them for the preparation and submission of their Annual Mandatory reports. Since the participating Non-compliant cooperatives were unable to submit their mandatory reports on time due to some circumstances, they were thankful for the conduct of this particular activity, in which orientation on CDA Annual Mandatory Reports, as well as CAIS were presented. They even thrived more during the hands-on application that included creation of account in CAIS, and encoding/ submission of their reports. They surely got a load of understanding of the reports that they have to comply with as each of the CAPR, AFS, Report on LOTA, PAR, SAR, and Report on Mediation/Conciliation were carefully discussed. According to them, they now worry less and are positive that they can submit their reports, and soon secure their Certificate of Compliance (COC) from the Authority. Further, they aim to be heedful for their timely submission of these reports in the next coming years.
The Supervision and Examination Section (SES) will continue conducting the series of workshop-orientation to the different parts of the region, with even more vigor alongside the Cooperative Research, Information and Training Section (CRITS) to conduct mandatory trainings such as Fundamentals of Cooperatives (FOC) and Cooperative Governance and Management (CMG) to the Micro and Small Non-compliant cooperatives, this year. With the CDA’s goal of increasing cooperative compliance, the CDA RO VIII is elated that more cooperatives are now well-versed and enlightened of the importance of the timely preparation and submission through CAIS of its annual mandatory reports likewise on how the COC signifies its compliance to the RA 9520.
