The Cooperative Development Authority IX- Zamboanga City Unit Office conducted orientation on cooperativism to farmers association in Zamboanga City on March 2 and 3, 2022. This is in support to the Comprehensive Food Security Plan/Program of the City Government of Zamboanga. The LGU seeks to convert farmers and fisher folks association to cooperative so that they can be provided financial and technical assistance, equipment/farm inputs and facilities for the production, processing and marketing of their products to help sustain the food security in the City of Zamboanga.

During the orientation, CDS II Imbran I. Abubakar discussed the concept of cooperative; its privileges and advantages. The farmers and fisher folks appreciated the important role that the cooperative plays in the society, as it helps not only the members but the community in general.  They signified their intention and willingness to organize a cooperative. The CDA IX-ZCUO and Zamboanga City Cooperative Development Office committed to assist these farmers and fisher folks in their registration with Cooperative Development Authority.
