The Cooperative Month Celebration in Zamboanga City would not be complete without the Coop Love Drive. It is a meaningful activity as it is one of the cooperatives’ ways of giving back to the community. This year’s Coop Love Drive is the Donation of 100 Solar Street Lights to two community beneficiaries. A ceremonial turnover was held on October 23 at Barangay Mercedes and Barangay Tulungatung, where the community beneficiaries are located.

The ZCCDC coordinated with the Housing and Land Management Division of the Office of the City Mayor in identifying the communities that need the street lights the most. The two (2) chosen communities were Azcuna Resettlement Area and Tulungatung Resettlement Area. Each community has received 50 solar street lights.

These solar street lights will provide well-lit streets/roads and a safer community for the residents. Solar street lights can also help improve community sustainability because they are cost-efficient and have a lasting positive impact on the environment.

The beneficiaries were elated to have received such and expressed their gratitude for the sector’s initiative to extend assistance or provide solar street lights for their communities. Through this activity, the coop sector has integrated cooperativism in the community, a manifestation of the sector’s concern and fulfillment of its social responsibility.
