Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur – On October 21, 2024, the Municipal Cooperative Development Council (MCDC) of Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur convened for its first organizational meeting at the SB Session Hall.
The meeting was presided over by Mayor Hon. Ruel G. Molina, who also serves as the MCDC Chairperson. Other attendees included municipal officials, cooperative leaders, and representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Regional Office IX.
Sr. CDS Alvazer B. Duran from the CDA conducted an orientation on CDA Memorandum Circular 2022-03, which outlines the guidelines for the structure, organization, and operation of CDCs.
Following the orientation, the council elected its officers:
- Chairperson: Mr. Alel E. Tabiado, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator
- Vice Chairperson: Mr. Jurey Cris A. Ponio, OIC-Municipal Agriculture Office
- Secretary: Ms. Donita Rose A. Parantar, Cooperative Development Officer-Designate
- Treasurer: Ms. Elma Esplana, Women’s Federated President
- Auditor: Ms. Phoebe R. Mamhot, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer/KEMPCO Manager
The newly elected officers were instructed to submit the necessary requirements for recognition and the issuance of a certificate of recognition to the CDA.
The establishment of the MCDC is a significant step towards promoting cooperative development in Kumalarang. This council will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding cooperatives in the municipality.
