The Cooperative Development Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region (CDA-CAR), in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU)-Benguet, gave a brief orientation on cooperatives to the Barangay Officials which formed part of the program set for the Barangay Development Congress held on May 22-24, 2024 at the Benguet Sport Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.

During the orientation, significant cooperative laws were presented which strengthen CDA’s resolve to partner and collaborate with the LGUs towards the promotion, organization and development of cooperatives. Also, insights on the benefits and advantages of local governments with operating cooperatives were shared which enticed the participants to espouse cooperativism at the barangay level as part of the local government.

By adhering to cooperative values and principles, cooperatives promote socio-economic empowerment, foster community engagement, and strive for shared prosperity.

The event, which was conducted in three batches, was attended by over 1,300 participants representing all the barangays in the 13 municipalities of Benguet.//CLBulalin
