The Regional Cooperative Development Council of the Cordillera Administrative Region (RCDC-CAR) recently held a significant and productive meeting, gathering cooperative stakeholders from across the highlands to tackle key issues and chart the path forward for the cooperative movement in the region. At the forefront of the agenda was the preparation for the upcoming Regional Cooperative Month celebration, which is slated for October 2025.

The meeting served as a vital convergence point for cooperative leaders, development officers, local government representatives, and other key players in the cooperative sector. Their shared goal: to align plans, consolidate efforts, and ensure a unified and impactful celebration of cooperative values and achievements throughout the month of October.
Although the final theme and official schedule of events are still under development, the Council stressed its commitment to organizing a celebration that reflects the diverse and dynamic nature of Cordillera’s cooperative landscape. The focus will be on inclusivity, innovation, and grassroots engagement—ensuring that cooperatives from both rural and urban areas can participate meaningfully.
Several exciting proposals were laid out during the meeting, including:
- A Regional Cooperative Fair – envisioned as a vibrant gathering that will highlight the unique products, services, and innovations of Cordilleran cooperatives. This fair aims to provide a platform for marketing, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
- Capacity-Building Activities – such as training sessions, workshops, and seminars designed to strengthen cooperative resilience, promote sustainability, and facilitate digital transformation. These sessions will cater to both emerging and established cooperatives.
- Awards and Recognition Programs – to honor outstanding cooperatives and individual leaders who have demonstrated excellence in governance, innovation, and social impact.
- Community Outreach Programs – aimed at deepening public awareness of cooperativism and reinforcing its role in regional development. Activities may include cooperative-led community services, school engagements, and public information drives.
The Council urges all cooperative members and stakeholders to mark their calendars for October and prepare to take part in a month of learning, recognition, and solidarity. Updates on the theme, date, and lineup of activities will be announced soon via official channels.
