November 28, 2024- In a move aimed at enhancing the development of cooperatives across the region, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and Abra State Institute of Science Technology (ASIST) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The partnership focuses on fostering cooperative education, research, and sustainable cooperative management, marking a significant step toward promoting inclusive economic growth and empowering local communities.
The MOA, signed in a formal ceremony at Brentwood Apartelle, M. Roxas, Baguio City, was witnessed by key officials from both institutions. In attendance to witness the ceremony were ASEC. Abdulsalam Guinomla, Board of Director and Head of the Education and Advocacy Cluster, Ms. Felicidad R. Cenon, PhD, OIC-Regional Director of CDA CAR and Ms. Johaira S. Limbao from the office of ASEC. Pendatun B. Disimban. The CDA was represented by Chairman Usec. Joseph B. Encabo, while ASIST President, Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, signed on behalf of the university.
During his message Chairman Usec. Jospeh B. Encabo noted that empowering cooperatives through education and capacity-building is crucial to their long-term sustainability. As cooperatives play a pivotal role in promoting economic self-reliance, particularly in marginalized sectors, this partnership will allow us to equip current and future leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to build and manage thriving cooperatives.
The signing of this MOA between the CDA and ASIST marks a significant moment in the country’s cooperative sector, signaling a commitment to education, innovation, and community development.
