With the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better Future for All”, The Provincial Cooperative Month Celebration in Mountain Province was conducted on October 12, 2024 at the Evacuation Center, Chatol, Lingay, Barlig, Mountain Province.
Despite the stormy weather in the locality, the celebration was started with a civic parade from the EBNAVHS Open Gym, as the assembly area then passing through the National Road to the activity venue. The parade and activity were participated in by the following order: Barlig PNP, Barlig LGU Dance Troupe, Office of the Congressman, Office of the Provincial Governor, Vice Governor and SP Members, PCEDO, CDA, MPCU representatives, Bauko, Besao, Bontoc, Natonin and Paracelis Cooperative Delegates, Gong Beaters (Masachao MPC), Municipality of Barlig Mayor’s Office, Vice Mayor and SB Members and Sabangan, Sadanga, Sagada, Tadian and Barlig Cooperative delegates with gongs.
The opening program started with an opening prayer lead by Fr. Jeason A. Cabacab, Parish Priest of The St. Michael The Archangel followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Malou Wayne Imperial, Mountain Province Hymn by Merilyn C. Fongayong, Cooperative Hymn and reciting of the Cooperative Pledge by Nelson Porcincula. Mr. Edmundo Sidchayao then acknowledged the participants and guests. Afterwards, Barlig Municipal Mayor Clark C. Ngaya gave the welcome remarks by which was followed by the messages from the representatives of Congressman Maximo Dalog, Jr. and Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr., respectively. Highlighting the activity was the sharing of good practices by Rockybal Dakillay of Sagada MPC, sharing of updates by the CDA through Acting Supervising CDS Mr. Dickson S. Aycud and the Mountain Province Cooperative Union. To make the activity lively, members of Barlig Development Cooperative showcased their talents through an intermission.
Another highlight of the program was the awarding of the CDA-CAR EO of financial assistance to two (2) micro/small category beneficiary cooperatives @ P50,000.00 each, namely: Alabama Transport Cooperative and Kadaclan Agrarian Reform Cooperative. Likewise, Anonat Farmers Agriculture Cooperative and Mabato Farmers Agriculture Cooperative were recognized as beneficiaries of Digital 2-IN-1 Corn Mill Combine Rice Mill with 10 KVA Generator Set which was distributed at CDA-CAR EO Office, Longlong, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet on September 30, 2024. This was witnessed by the LGUs of Mountain Province and Barlig Municipal officials present during the program. Also, the participants of the 2024 Provincial Coop Month Celebration of Mountain Province. The venue for next year celebration will be the Municipality of Besao. – D.S.Aycud
