2025 KOOP KAPATID PROGRAM IN PASIG CITY

2025 KOOP KAPATID PROGRAM IN PASIG CITY

To promote the growth and viability of cooperatives as instruments of equity, social justice, and economic development, one of the agency’s  primary responsibilities is institutional development and regulation of cooperatives through partnership with cooperative sectors. To institutionalize the sixth principle which is cooperation among cooperatives, the Koop Kapatid Program was implemented. This program was organized for micro and small cooperatives (beneficiary cooperatives) in need of mentorship in the form of management skills, financial, technical, and other forms of assistance from medium and large cooperatives, including Unions and Federations (partner cooperatives). The adoption of this program shall be formalized through a written Memorandum of Agreement among the involved parties.

The Authority, with assistance and guidance of Ms. Grace Torres, conducted an orientation of MC 2023-02 entitled “Revised Guidelines on the Implementation of the Koop Kapatid Program” on April 14, 2025 at Astoria Plaza Hotel, Pasig City. The activity was a success because of the initiative and partnership of Pasig City Cooperative Development Office (PCCDO) who identified and invited prospective beneficiary and partner cooperatives to participate in the program. The orientation commenced with a brief explanation of the guidelines, followed by a question and answer session, and concluded with a short breakout session to allow the cooperatives to get to know each other. By the end of the program, prospective partner cooperatives were able to understand the kind of assistance they could offer to prospective beneficiary cooperatives.

On April 21, 2025, at the same venue, aforementioned partner and beneficiary cooperatives confirmed their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement, an event led by Ms. May Pacleb, head of the Cooperative Programs Development and Assistance Section (CPDAS). Seven MOAs were forged between seven beneficiary cooperatives and six partner cooperatives.
