Cooperative members in Paranaque City gather together for a motorcade on October 1, 2023. This event marked the commencement of Cooperative Month celebrations, aligning with this year’s theme, “Cooperatives: Pioneering the Path to Recovery Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Security.”
A total of 78 vehicles, representing 40 cooperatives from various sectors, joined the motorcade which was organized by the Paranaque Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) in coordination with the Paranaque City Union of Cooperatives (PqCUC), Unified Marketing Services Cooperative of Paranaque Fishermen’s Wharf (UMSCPFW), Paranaque Federation of Cooperatives (PqFC), and the Cooperative Development Authority- National Capital Region Extension Office (CDA-NCREO).
Cooperative Month is an annual event celebrated nationwide in the Philippines, highlighting the significant contributions of cooperatives to the local and national economies. This year’s theme emphasizes the vital role cooperatives play in addressing challenges, particularly climate change and food security.
The Cooperative Month Celebrations in the City of Paranaque will continue throughout October with a series of events, including seminars-workshops, and community outreach activities aimed at raising awareness about the role of cooperatives in addressing pressing social challenges.
