April 29 & 30, 2024 | The Taguig Cooperative Development Office, in collaboration with the Union of Defense and Public Safety Cooperatives (UDPSC) and the Cooperative Union of Taguig & Pateros (COUNTPA), hosted the free two-day seminar on “Credit Information System Act (CISA) Orientation Seminar and Compliance Workshop” with the Credit Information Corporation (CIC). This was held at the Taguig City Convention Center. The seminar was well attended with 144 coop leaders, executives and technical staff from 59 cooperatives in Taguig,Pateros, and EMBO Barangays. The CIC team is composed of Atty. Philip Gerald S. Fulgueras, Attorney IV of Credit Information Corporation (CIC), Engagement Officer and two Technical Experts. Atty. Fulgueras, on the first day, walked us through the CISA Law (RA 9510) its initial compliance, and its implementing rules and regulations.
Mr. Rayson Rivera and Ms. Victoria Ualat, both CIC Data Controller IV, worked with our cooperatives during the compliance workshop on the second day.
The whole undertaking outlines the significance of establishing a centralized credit information system in our country. And it aims to collect and disseminate fair and accurate credit information and protect consumer rights and reduce credit risk to financial institutions.
