International Cooperative Day Celebration in Taguig City.

Taguig City, in collaboration with its Cooperative Development Office (CDO), marked the International Cooperative Day with a simple celebration at the Taguig Convention Center, located along Cayetano Blvd, Taguig City. The event brought together leaders and members from the cooperative sector of Taguig for a day of engagement and education.

The Taguig City Cooperative Development Office (TCDO), in partnership with the Taguig City Cooperative Development Council (TCCDC), the Cooperative Union of Taguig & Pateros (COUNTPA), and the Union of Defense and Public Safety Cooperatives (UDPSC), organized a program and activity titled “FINANCIAL LITERACY: THE COOP WAY.” This event saw the participation of nearly 300 individuals, including Board of Directors, officers, employees, and cooperative members from various cooperatives within Taguig City.
The celebration and forum were honored by the presence of key figures, including Hon. Carlito M. Ogalinola, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives and People’s Organizations in the Sangguniang Panglungsod, and Col. Felino Natividad (Ret), Chairperson of the Taguig City Cooperative Development Council (TCCDC).

Additionally, a video message was delivered by Asec. Myrla Paradillo, Head of Public Utility Cluster at the Cooperative Development Authority. The event was regarded as a success, receiving high praise for its focus not only on financial literacy but also on its relevance to six of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Sustainable Cities and Communities.

By addressing these critical areas, the event highlighted the integral role of cooperatives in fostering community development and enhancing the quality of life for their members.
