KOOP KAPATID ORIENTATION AND MOA SIGNING AMONG THE SELECTED COOPERATIVES OF PASIG CITY

The Cooperative Development Authority, through the Koop Kapatid Program, partners eligible micro and small cooperatives with medium and large cooperatives in order for them to pool their resources and expertise towards growth and development. This initiative was anchored with the sixth cooperative principle, “Cooperation among Cooperatives.” This program’s primary objective is for the medium and large partner cooperatives to support the micro and small beneficiary cooperatives who require mentorship with their management, technical, and financial skills. The Koop Kapatid Orientation was completed through the Pasig City Cooperative Development Office, under the leadership of Mr. John Troy Sunga, on July 9, 2024 at Astoria Plaza Hotel, Pasig City.

The guidelines for the implementation of the Koop Kapatid program were discussed by Ms. Melanie Roquiño, CDS II of the CDA NCR Extension Office. The participating cooperatives were also given the opportunity to participate in a group discussion where they discussed their goals, the required assistance, plans, and strategies for carrying out the program.

To bind the agreements into action, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was held at Chardonnay by Astoria in Pasig City on August 20, 2024, expressing their collaboration for cooperative growth and development.

Prior to the momentous signing of the MOA, a Koop Kapatid Partnership success story was presented by Jollibee Foods Corporation Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (JFC EMPC), to the participants to share their experiences, challenges, and most importantly, their best practices during the program implementation, that the participating cooperatives, may adopt to ensure the partnership’s success.

During the event, Regional Director Pedro T. Defensor Jr., as the witness of the partnership agreement, gave an overview of the Koop Kapatid program, which is one of the Authority’s important initiatives. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to the attendees and encouraged them to uphold the spirit of cooperativism among cooperatives.

The Medical City Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, Ugong Credit Cooperative, Pasig Parish Credit Cooperative, Jollibee Foods Corporation Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (JFC EMPC), and URC Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, were the City’s Partner Cooperatives, who will be responsible for providing technical assistance through training and capacity building initiatives, in addition to assigning funds for financial assistance/subsidies, to their respective beneficiary cooperatives.

While, Doce Vocales – Sumilang Credit Cooperative, Camp Converters Consumers Cooperative, Sta. Lucia Parish Multipurpose Cooperative, Rizal Experimental Station & Pilot School of Cottage Industries (RESPSCI) Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Rockbuilder’s Urban Development and Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and NAPICO Multi-Purpose Cooperative were the beneficiary cooperatives, who have successfully signed a new agreement and shall benefit on different forms of assistance through the CDA’s Koop Kapatid Program, in coordination with the Pasig City Cooperative Development Office.
