Through the efforts and initiatives of the Malabon City Cooperative Development Council led by its Chairperson, Norvin Aguilar of the Malabon Government Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, and in coordination with the Malabon City Cooperative Development Office headed by OIC Edgardo Cruz, the program “KOOPIHAN” was relaunched last June 7, 2023. After almost three years since the pandemic, the program was revived.
The “KOOPIHAN” aims to discuss issues and concerns affecting cooperatives in Malabon City, as well as, introduction of CDA and CDO programs. It was attended by 28 participants from 14 cooperatives together with 6 cooperative council officers. This monthly event will be hosted rotationally by cooperatives within the city. Certain guests will also be invited to help address the issues and concerns arising from each activity. The initial event was hosted by the Malabon Central Market Development Cooperative, headed by its Chairperson Joselito Fuerto. Also present were City Councilor Genardo Bernando, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives and CDA-NCR CDS II assigned, Emmanuel Lapeña. Issues like payment of variable LGU fees for certificates and permits, CDA accredited external auditors, CAIS submission, conduct of mandatory trainings and protection from illegal market vendors were raised which were all properly addressed.
