Mandatory Trainings for Small Cooperatives Category Held in NCR

The conduct of the monthly Mandatory Trainings for Small Cooperatives for NCR was held on May 23-24 and 30-31, 2023. The 3rd of the series of seminars lined-up by CDA NCREO which aim to capacitate coop officers in running their  businesses in an effective and efficient manner.

Held on May 23-24 at Hiyas ng Kaban ng Mandaluyong, Mandaluyong City Hall Complex, Mandaluyong City, the training on Fundamentals of Cooperative was attended by thirteen (13) small cooperatives with Fifty Nine (59) individual participants consisting of thirty three (33) females and twenty six (26) males.

Participants were welcomed by Mr. Crispin Malicdem, Head-Cooperative Development Officer of the City Mandaluyong. Councilor Leslie Cruz, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives and Ms. Charisse Ablas-Vargas, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Mayor in behalf of Mayor Benjamin Abalos. Mr.  Ernesto Victorino, Chairperson of Mandaluyong Multi-Purpose Cooperative, graced the occasion giving encouraging words to the participants coming from of the cities of Mandaluyong, Manila, Pasig, Quezon and Taguig. Acknowledgement of participants was done by Ms. Ma. Flordeliza M. Chu, Senior CDS of CRITS wherein she explained the rationale and importance of the said seminar.

Ms. Hanika Villaflores, CDS II for Registration, discussed the History, Nature, Characteristics, Values and Principles of Cooperatives.

Mr. Robert Tiongco CDS II for Mandaluyong City, talked on the Salient Features and the Implementing Rules and Regulations of R.A. 9520.

On the following day, Ms. Ermelina Racelis, Sr. CDS for Registration, lectured contents of the Articles of Cooperation and By-Laws, followed by the topic on how to formulate the Vision-Mission-Goals and Plans and Programs.

On May 30 and 31, 2023, Governance and Management of Cooperatives Seminar was held at Quezon City Experience (QCX), Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City. Attended by almost the same participants from the previous training in Mandaluyong City, present were sixty-three (63) individual participants consisting of thirty-three (38) females and twenty-five (25) males.

Ms. Mona Celine Marie V. Yap, Head- Small Business and Cooperative Development Office of Quezon City, welcomed the participants while Dir. Pedro T. Defensor Jr. gave the rationale of the activity giving emphasis on the importance to the learnings that each participant will gain in this seminar. Thirteen (13) cooperatives from the cities of Mandaluyong, Manila, Pasig, Quezon and Taguig were acknowledged by Ms. Ma. Flordeliza M. Chu, Senior CDS of CRITS.

On the first day, Ms. Radeza Rosquillos, CDS II for Quezon City, discussed the Principles of Governance. The topic includes the Meanings of Governance, Tests of Good Governance, Benefits of Good Governance, Governance Common Issues and Problems, Good Governance Guiding Principles, Levels of Governance, Characteristics of Good Governance, Key Cooperative Actors, Functions of the Board of Directors and Board Good Practices.

Ms. Aniceta Dalmacio, CDS II for Makati City, talked on the topics on Board and Manager Relationship, the Cooperative Organizational Structure as well as the Duties and Responsibilities of Officer of the Cooperative.

On the 2nd day Ms. Prima Sarah Parangue started the morning session with the topic on Handling Meetings followed by Relevant Laws affecting cooperatives.

In the afternoon, Mr. Sofronio Aquino Jr., CDS II for Makati City discussed the topics on Ethical Standards and Coop Standards that dwelt on the content of the Social Audit and Governance and Management Reports.
