“Instead of turning our backs on them and hurting them because we are scared of getting infected, we need to give them thanks and celebrate them. There is no match for their dedication and service to our country.”

Such words were pointed out by the DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire as news of harassment and violence against health workers were reported. In this battle of the unseen enemy, the corona virus, our country is truly blessed to have healthcare workers who have dedicated their very own lives in the service of their fellowmen. As Usec. Vergeire has said, we truly ought to thank and celebrate them for the love, passion and commitment they exemplify while fighting a good fight for our nation.

One of our coops in Quezon City, the Workers and Employees Center for Assistance and Resources Multipurpose Cooperative also known as the WE CARE COOPERATIVE, truly lived up to its name of being caring not only to its members but even to our frontliners. The cooperative has donated food packs to our “modern-day hero frontliners” in hospitals such as Capitol Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center and Delgado Hospital. Worthy to mention also was the cooperative’s efforts to donate food packs in checkpoints near the WE CARE COOPERATIVE office.

As for its members, they were provided assistance through suspension of deduction of all regular loans for the payroll period of March 16-31, April 1-15 & April 16-30. They were also assisted in their inquiries of savings withdrawal and loan request via email.
