As of December 31, 2017, there are already 27,626 registered cooperatives in the country with some 14 million active members, all believing in social solidarity economy. They come from all walks of life: farmers, fisher folks, women, workers, lumads, small vendors, drivers, the vulnerable sector and even persons with disabilities (PWDs). They collectively believe that Cooperativism can draw them out from the onslaught of hunger and poverty and put them in the mainstream of development process.
