CDA Holds Gawad Parangal Awarding Ceremony

10.10.2012 – The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) formally launched the Awards, Recognition and Incentives program called the GAWAD PARANGAL, in unison with the opening of the 11th National Cooperative Summit, at the Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City. The CDA GAWAD PARANGAL is an awards and recognition program for cooperatives, local government units, partner organizations and cooperative leaders in recognition of exemplary performance, best practices and good governance and in bringing responsive services to the people and to the community.

The Awarding Ceremony commenced with the opening message delivered by CDA Regional Director Orlando R. Ravanera, who graciously welcomed the participants, guests and awardees to the City of Cagayan de Oro. The special guest of the CDA GAWAD PARANGAL, former Senator Agapito “Butz” Aquino, also gave his message to the cooperative sector and encouraged their support and participation to the programs of the CDA.

Cultural performances were presented by the CDA Pagadian and Caraga Extension Offices, who were winners of another one of the banner programs of the CDA, the Human Resource Development (HRD) program. National nominees of cooperatives were recognized and given Certificates of Recognition for their participation, promotion and the development of cooperativism in the community and the country as a whole. Likewise, Regional Outstanding Cooperative Leaders and Local Government Unit-Cooperative Development Offices were awarded Plaques of Recognition.

The National Winners for Most Outstanding Cooperative Leaders and LGU-Cooperative Development Office who were awarded Plaques of GAWAD PARANGAL are Ms. Norma R. Pereyras of Tagum Cooperative and Provincial Cooperative Development Office-Province of Isabela, respectively.The National Winners for Most Outstanding Cooperatives were also awarded Plaques of Recognition, presented by Chairman Emmanuel Santiaguel, Ph.D., Administrator Nelon Alindogan and IDD Director Fe Caingles. The GAWAD PARANGAL program ended with the closing remarks of Deputy Executive Director Giovanni Platero who gave his accolade to the nominees and awardees and appreciation to the members of the National Screening Committee (NSC) and its external partners. He challenged the winners to continue their best management practices and assured them that the CDA will document their history, experiences and stories of success to inspire other cooperatives, partners and advocates.

The CDA hopes the cooperatives, cooperative leaders and LGU-Cooperative Development Offices will continue to be part of the GAWAD PARANGAL program of the agency, which is to be conducted yearly.
